My oldest son L often asks me to bring out all of our pots and pans to make the same "drum" circle as pictured above. My youngest, now 18 months, has witnessed his brother banging on the "drums" with curiosity, but has always kept his distance because of how loud L is when he does it. After one of L's drum sessions, I left the pots, pans, and spoons (drumsticks) in the middle of the floor to see if B would try it for himself. He eventually made his way over and started banging on the pans with his hands. I watched for a while and then set him in the middle of the circle with the spoon. He picked it up and started "drumming" all by himself! With every tap he looked up at me proudly and I clapped and cheered for every clang and bang!
His first jam session!

I love this! Simple and perfect for a little one your sons age.
ReplyDeleteaww... so cute! Aarya at this age would unload my drawers ( they were at his level, unfortunately) and do the banging all the time. Some things are just classic play things - every kid I know loves doing this :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! You know, if you see some potential in your son, try enrolling him to a music school so he can fully develop it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I agree with you Nicole. When I saw my son's interest with guitar and piano before, I enrolled him in a music class and now at a young age, he's a really good instrument player.
ReplyDeleteBabies are always cuddly with household items! I'm just bothered for the glass casserole cover, is he really tapping it with the spoon?
ReplyDeleteThe cover that I think you are referring to is actually plastic, however there was the glass pan lid, but I really wasn't worried about it at all.
DeleteWell,
ReplyDeleteAlways check the set you intend to buy to see if the stands are doublebeginner drum sets braced or not, and if the bass drum pedal is flimsy. You also need to take a look at the cymbal stands and look for boom arms, which will provide better cymbal placement. Beginners only really need 3 cymbals: the crash, hi-hat, and rid.
Thanks
