Wax Paper Collage

L and I went out and gathered some springtime plants to make a Spring Collage to hang on his bedroom window. After gathering, I put the leaves, flowers, etc. between two pieces of wax paper, covered the paper with a thin towel and then ironed it (no steam!) It held together in the middle, but needed some staples on the outside. We hung it on the window, which looked really neat as the sun shined through.

  1. I can't wait to try this. Assuming the sun comes out this week I think I'll take my lo to the park and collect leaves to do this. I'm not familiar with wax paper. Do you iron right on top of the wax paper or do you put a cloth in between the iron and the paper? Thanks!

    1. It doesn't stick all by itself, you have to staple all the way around the edges to make a pouch, when you iron it it sticks enough to hold it all together, small creation shavings help as well and add an almost stained glass effect.

  7. We used to do this when we were kids... But my grandma would put little pieces of old/broken crayons inbetween the wax paper just for a little more color.

  8. You can use contact paper that will stick it together. We have also added a picture if the child from that year or while collecting.
