Menu Plan Monday

I plan my families weekly meals, although I do not designate a specific meal for a specific day. Plans change, appetites change, available preparation time changes, etc. So, I do try to stick to my menu plan, but I choose which meals fit which dinner nights based on what meal is most convenient for that night. I always designate one night a week to leftovers.

I like organization but I also love flexibility so this works great for me!

Last week I didn't get to some of my meals I had planned, so they are on the plan for this week.  This is always largely due to the fact that my wonderful mom loves to go out to eat AND loves to pay..
so who am I to say no? :)

What we're having

turkey burgers, veggie rice, and green beans

Southwest chicken salad

tacos (turkey meat)

shrimp, bacon, and cheese quesadillas

baked cheese stuffed chicken and twice baked zucchini

Leftovers

Table Top Magazine Cutout Art

Yes, thats a hotdog butterfly.

I frequently cover our living room table with a large sheet of paper, tape it down, and then let L color on it throughout the day. It serves as a great whenever activity and a really great playdate activity.

Well today I gave him tons of cutouts from magazines that ive saved for random activities, a glue stick and crayons. First of all, coloring can sometimes get old fast for some kids, but gluing usually entices them to stick around longer. Well, thats in L's case anyway.

He glued all the cutouts on the paper and then he wanted me to color with him. He usually TELLS me what to color and when he told me to draw a dinosaur eating the cookie...I...tried.

don't laugh. I have no artistic skills whatsoever. Ok..I guess you can laugh.
L laughed too, but he loved it!

and then the requests kept coming...

a funny face

L standing on the ice cream

a food tree

and a butterfly, which I thought the hotdog would be perfect for.
L thought this was hilarious.

This entertained L for a loooong time. The laughs kept coming and he got to work on his pasting skills. Simple and fun entertainment.

Sponge Painting

Fun, cheap, and easy...thats what this is. L loved it!

I covered our kitchen table with paper, cut out some shapes from large sponges, and filled a few bowls with washable paint.

it was really cool when he started dipping the sponges into more than one color at once.
This is when I couldn't resist getting in on the action.

and like every paint project we do...the end result is just a big ole smeared blob.
Which is FINE with me, because.....

He just has so much darn fun doing it!

Our Week in Pictures

A weekly post
that captures the memories we've made
(including the cat)
from Monday-Sunday

I am again playing catch-up with this post, so these are really from the last few weeks.
Playing outside at his Nonny's house

Loving the massage chair at the furniture store

L loves dinosaurs so when we were playing outside I put some rocks in the grass and told him it was a dinosaur nest and dinosaur eggs. Wow, this led to lots of imaginative play!

Early morning walk to the beautiful Mildred B Cooper Chapel in the Woods

Trip to the park to feed the ducks with his friend

Same spot with Daddy on another day

and a trip to another park with daddy :)

A beautiful afternoon family visit to Devils Den State Park

and a kiss on the bridge

A VERY happy little boy

my mom and I took L fishing

we didn't catch anything but he LOVED reeling it in.
I casted and he reeled in..about a million times lol.

Library day with daddy

Signs of spring! yay!

Chocolate covered bananas
which were SOOO good but also led to many immature jokes by me and brian and some obscene gestures by me (when L wasn't looking of course)
hahaha-- hey, whatever keeps you laughing in your marriage, right?!

Some Afternap Activities

popcorn kernel sensory bin

What Caddy Cat has been up to lately
