In honor of Spring, I created this pond/lifecycle of a frog sensory bin/small world play.
I used fishtank plants, as well as fake plant leaves that i've collected from Goodwill (one of my favorite places for sensory bin material.) I made the lilly pad from a sheet of foam. The green rocks are those vase gems you find in the floral section.
I also bought a packet of figures that show the lifecyle of a frog at Hobby Lobby and added these to the pond. We had lots of fun talking about how a tadpole becomes a frog. L had lots of questions and asked me more than once to explain the process to him.
This was one of my favorite sensory bins/small world play setups yet!

I love it! I love the life cycle frogs. I had not seen them before. I will have to get some, and incorporate them into a fun playtime. As always, thanks for the inspiration :)

ReplyDeleteSuper cute sensory bin! I was at Michael's and saw the Froggie Lifecycle but didn't really know how to incorporate it into more than a few seconds of explaining, so didn't purchase it! Bummer! You did a great job! Thanks for sharing at Kids Co-op!

ReplyDeleteLooks like lots of fun! I love the lifecycle figures. We are about to start a frog lifecycle activity here too. While we were visiting my parent's farm we saw lots of tadpoles in their pond and found some frogs too!

ReplyDeleteNo food coloring...i'm sure the green things helped, but I also set it in the grass and that REALLY made it look green :)
ReplyDeleteI bought the Frog Life Cycle from Hobby Lobby on sale a few weeks ago. Hadn't given much thought to how I would use it in my Preschool class...now I know. Thank you so much for such a wonderful idea. Our little ones are going to love it. Instead of the vase beads though, I think I might use blue and green water beads.
