We FINALLY made Cloud Dough, which is just gloriously simply FLOUR+BABY OIL!
OH MY...its wonderful! It is extremely soft yet is it is moldable. I've only just recently been introduced to the store bought Moon Dough stuff, and yes, it's very similar but why pay the money when you can make it for super cheap and far better smelling! I've seen it all over blogland, my friend made it for her 3 kids so I finally couldn't resist. WOW.
I wanted a big batch so I used 8 cups of flour and 1 cup baby oil. I ended up adding a few more tablespoons to get juuuust right so it's not an exact science thing.
and ohhhh the fun WE had!
Sandcastles...or Cloud Dough Castles
Cutting and Dividing
Birthday Cake
Cookie Cutter Shapes
Animal Prints
Dinosaur Caves
This is seriously one of those...you GOTTA TRY THIS kinda things.

I will have to try that. Never heard of it before
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about making this...but I'm just imagining the mess my 2 year old would make trying to play with big brother!

Okay, I think you have finally sold me on the idea of cloud dough! We will definitely make it when we get to our beach theme. Thank you for sharing this at WOTT!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lot of fun to play with. I think I'll wait until summer when I won't have to deal with the mess inside.
ReplyDeleteI've made this with my 20 months old daughter. She loved it and made quite a mess (but it worth the fun we had). I was wondering if you kept your dough or put it in the garbage afterwards. If you kept it, how long?
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
lol yes it is quite messy but ohhh so much fun! I actually kept it in a plastic baggie and brought it out about a month later to play with and it was still perfect so it seems like it keeps for quite a long time!
ReplyDeleteThis was fabulous. We used the recipe and even made two batches. This has kept our son busy for days. Thanks for sharing this great idea.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a fabulous weekend.
Just found your blog! Love your ideas! My three year old has been playing with this for the last two hours! Can't wait to try some of your other ideas.
ReplyDeleteWe did this yesterday and had a blast. To save me some trouble cleaning up, I put a towel down inside my shower (it's about the size of a bathtub so room for two) and let my 1 and 2.5 year olds play with it inside. They LOVED it. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is gluten intolerant. Has anyone used a gluten free flour to make the clouds?
ReplyDeletejust curious, is it possible to use vegetable oil or an oil other than baby oil? or is baby oil part of the key?
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
Would it be possible to use food coloring to make it colorful?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure about using vegetable oil. It sounds a bit yucky lol, but it's possible. I've never tried adding food coloring but it would be something worth trying! Let me know how it goes!
ReplyDeleteI was planning on adding some food coloring but realized I was out. BUT, I added sprinkles while I was playing with my 20 month old neice and she had a blast for about 2 hours. so fun!
ReplyDeleteDoes it preserve well? I imagine you can just store it and bring it out later.
Just tried this tonight with my girls!...they loved it! We added glitter to glam it up a bit! We will do this over and over...so much fun!
ReplyDeleteWonderful idea! I did this activity with my son. I invite you to see
